Honestly, and I dont want to scare you but yes. Any area where there is low fat to high muscle percentage will hurt like heck. My best advice to you is to ask around and find a tender handed artist who will lessen the pain. It's all in the application also.

I got a medium sized cross on the inside of my wrist and I by no means hurt - It was more like a funny sensation in the inside of my arm at the top. The only thing I can think that was like it is when you get pins and needles, that kind that you don't to move an inch cause it hurts, but tickles at the same time. I had to get him to stop occasionally, but not out of pain, more to get a break from this feeling. It was really weird. Certainly don't pass on account of it possibly hurting. A papercut hurts more!!!
