hiya! i just got me a 42" samsung hd plasma (ps-42s5h) that's dying to get some high-quality input ;-) in the xbmc settings, i can only choose between 4:3 and 16:9; i find nowhere to change to hd output or 720p or anything like that. i have connected the xbox to the plasma using a component cable (3 for video, 2 for audio) and am at a loss on how to continue. went to the ms dashboard, but the only modes i found available there were normal, letterbox and widescreen (and pal60 yes/no) which doesn't really help me much. i know; n00b-question - but still :s found nothing online or in the manual either. how do i proceed?
thanks for a great site,
/mm
xbox only supports hdtv ntsc modes.
this means you must
*) use a tool to tell xbox it's in ntsc (it's a eeprom change), several tools exists, like enigmah videomode switch disc. Xbox Media Center | Research by Surreal Road:: The XBMC software is open-source, released under a Gnu Public License, and is will not playback HD resolution content (720p, 1080i, 1080p) in fact xbmc on http://www.surrealroad.com/research/archives/2005/xbox-media-centerHOME |
*) use a supported hd cable, and now you should be able to enable these modes in msdash.
*yum!*
thank you. it works now; time to start experimenting with hi quality clips *drooling* i know i've read this about ntsc somewhere/sometime; i'd just managed to forget it :s thank you, sorry again for the n00bness ;-)
p.s.
is it my imagination or does "everything" look better? even "plain" divx seems more defined, somehow. good upscaling?
