Large brown spots indicate an over-ripe banana
that means it is a little over ripe and may be rotting.

The banana, being tropical, is especially sensitive to brown spots at maturity. All they need is to cool down below 13 C (55F) for a few hours and they are going to begin browning.

There are three reactants: enzymes, iron present in the fruit, and oxygen. Once the banana is cut, bumped, or injured by cold the reaction begins. This reaction is fast but can be blocked by low pH (lemon juice), heat from cooking, or blocking the oxygen from the cut surface by putting the cut face under water. This is the typical problem of any cut fruit especially mature fruit that is less acidic but the enzyme involved (polyphenol oxidase) will act even on uncut fruit like the banana.

In the banana even the peel has this enzyme. Tropical fruit are not adapted to cool temperatures or real cold like the inside of a refrigerator so the peel is easily injured, releasing the iron compounds to be oxidized by the enzyme.

I don't get which spots? is it inside the banana, then they r seeds and if it is outside the banana on the skin they banana get brown spots because the skin is pressured or hurt or of some plant diseases.
